Tropical Sun Popcorn

Tropical Sun Popcorn

Native American folklore told of spirits that lived inside each kernel of popcorn. The spirits were generally peaceful and content, but when their homes (the kernels) were heated, the spirits grew angry. The hotter their homes, the angrier the spirits would become. As the spirits grew more irate, their kernels would shake with rage. When the heat was too great, the spirits would burst out of their homes and into the air as an incensed explosion of steam. Heat up our Tropical Sun Popcorn kernels and unleash the spirits!

Additional Info

Add enough popcorn to cover the bottom of a large saucepan. For every cup of popcorn, use 75ml oil. DO NOT USE BUTTER! On high heat, heat the oil to 200-300°C. If the oil smokes, it is too hot. Cover the saucepan with a loose lid that allows the steam to escape. Test the oil by dropping a few kernels into the saucepan. When the kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn. Cover the saucepan and shake to evenly spread the oil over the popcorn. When the popcorn rapidly begins to pop, remove the saucepan from the heat. The remaining kernels will still pop in the heated oil. Add salt, sugar or butter as desired. Remember, do not pre-salt the popcorn before popping because it toughens the kernels.
